Louis XV Verdure Tapestry
This handsome tapestry was hand woven with wool and silk threads in the 18th century by master weavers at Aubusson, one France’s finest and most historically important tapestry workshops. An excellent example of their celebrated verdure-style tapestries, this design showcases a delightful chinoiserie subject where birds, idle near a river, are surrounded by stylized and variegated foliage and exotic trees. Three fanciful Chinese pagodas stand on a hill in the distance.
