Santa Casa Da Misericordia
The three-building complex of the Albergue da Santa Casa da Misericórdia (Holy House of Mercy rest home) became known as a refuge for the poor and downtrodden during World War II, as well as a sanctuary for elderly women. These days, the hundred-year-old Portuguese buildings house galleries showcasing local art and creativity.
